The National Day of Catalonia is celebrated on 11 September and commemorates the date of a defeat, the capitulation of Barcelona to the Bourbon troops in 1714. The commemoration has become a day for defending the country’s rights and freedoms, and an act of reaffirming Catalonia’s own character and its identity as a nation.
Blanes Town Council has designed a programme of commemorative events to celebrate the National Day of Catalonia, respecting all the health measures recommended by the Catalan government in relation to the COVID-19.
