Blanes has programmed various activities to celebrate the 8M movement

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2022, Blanes Town Council, together with other institutions and organisations in the municipality, has organised various activities. Shows, presentations, debates, exhibitions and much more!

The events began on Thursday 3 March and will end on 10 March. For a whole week Blanes will emphasize the need to fight against inequalities towards women.

Programme to commemorate International Women’s Day 2022

3rd March
18:30 h – The Woman Alone. At half past six in the evening there will be an intimate performance at the Casal Cívic de Can Borrell, where the need to fight against inequalities towards women will be discussed. The event is free of charge, but requires prior registration.

4th March – 8th April
From the first week of March until the second week of April, the Casal Cívic Can Borrell will host an art exhibition by fine arts students inspired by women and girls.

5th March
10:00 h to 13:00 h – Be the Woman in Your Life. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a collaborative collage in Passeig de Dintre.

6th March
10:00 h – Women’s Run “Projecte Elles”. The solidarity walk will start at ten o’clock in the morning at Passeig de Mar, around Carrer Ample. To participate it is necessary to register in advance.

8th March
International Women’s Day 2022 is the most complete day of the whole week. The following events are scheduled:

  • 10:00 h – The factors that generate inequalities. At ten o’clock there will be a zoom videoconference where these factors will be discussed in professional environments.
  • 12:00 h – Zoom presentation of women’s entrepreneurship projects and various services for women in different fields. At the same time, in front of the façade of the town hall, there will be a reading of the institutional manifest.
  • 17:00 h – Talk by five women at the Casal Cívic Can Borrell about their professional careers and the play “Marquès de Trinxera”. At the same time, there will be a feminist short film at the Nau 4 youth centre.

10th March
18:30 h – Lecture on the implication of the labour reform on women, in the Roberto Bolaño Room of the Regional Library.

Note: On 6 and 8 March there will be an information and attention point (Punt Lila) on equality and gender perspective.
